In a little more than 4 months, the greatest highlight in my concert going so far, will come bounding into my life to shake the very pillars of this so-called music junkie’s understanding of awesome. What’s going on, you ask? Metallica’s Orion Music Festival, that’s what!
On June 23rd and 24th, I’ll be packing my bags for Atlantic City, New Jersey to watch 22 bands (all hand picked by the boys in ‘Tallica) pummel the ear canals of thousands of die-hard Metallica fans. But, wait, there’s more.
   Being
Metallica’s OWN festival and all, the boys will of course be headlining, closing out the night with a unique and pulverizing set. With the 21st anniversary of “The Black Album” upon the metal community (YAY for odd numbers), the first night will consist of the boys playing the album in its entirety, touching on never played songs, “The Struggle Within” and “Don’t Tread On Me”. The second night will be comprised of yet, another tribute where the band will play the entirety of their 1984 thrashtacular thrill-ride, “Ride the Lightning” from beginning to end, with fan favorite, “Escape”, finally making its live debut after almost 28 years.
In the end, I’m sure my very soul, down to its heavy metal core, will be changed forever. Until then, it’s
Metallica, 24/7 for me!
